    Abstract:
      Watershed boundaries for Water Resource Inventory Area 1
      where delineated for the 2514 Watershed Planning Project.
      Updated watershed delineations that all the Initiating
      Governments agree on is a necessary first step to watershed
      planning. The coverage is a composite of best existing
      watershed delineations.
    Purpose:
      This coverage divides the WRIA into manageable units for
      the WRIA 1 Planning Project. These units can then be
      characterized according to physical and socio-economic attributes.
    Supplemental_Information:
      Coverage is a composite of the following agencies' data:
      USGS, Whatcom County Planning & Development, WC
      Conservation District, City of Bellingham, City of Everson,
      Lummi Natural Resources, US Forest Service, and British
      Columbia MELP. Drainage boundaries were verified with
      WA-DNR 1:24,000 scale hydrography, orthophotos, USGS 7.5
      minute quadrangle maps, and field collected information.
      The most accurate line was then added to the base USGS
      Watershed Boundaries Map (January 2000).

      into, geographical place name, or historical area name.
      Acres were calculated but not verified. Attributes allow
      for queries on where surface water drains, how much surface
      area drains, major region the drainage is associated with,
      and watershed terminology hierarchy each catchment fits into.

    Delineation boundaries will be refined as better data
    becomes available. Areas draining to Canada are not yet complete.
